Katy Perry and Robyn Team for 'SNL' Poptacular

The list of musicians who have hosted Saturday Night Live is longer (and weirder!) than you'd think: Paul Simon, Ray Charles, Art Garfunkel, the Rolling Stones, Frank Zappa, Debbie Harry, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder, Ringo Starr, Madonna, Paul Shaffer, Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Quincy Jones, Sting, MC Hammer, Garth Brooks, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Queen Latifah, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Christina Aguilera, Janet Jackson, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Jon Bon Jovi, Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Elton John. This past weekend, Katy Perry joined this bizarre fellowship, and viewers tuned in â€" according to the Hollywood Reporter, she helped earn the show's best ratings since November 5. The pop star hit some speed bumps along the way, but not with her boobs, as expected (the last time Perry was on SNL, her chest stole the show).

Dum Dum Girls' Dee Dee on Her Biggest Influences and Signature Style

Kristin Gundred has a flair for the ?dramatic. The Dum Dum Girls leader only answers to her nom de rock (Dee Dee), sings with a spectacularly theatrical vibrato, and opens the door to her apartment on a sunny New York afternoon in a sheer black polka-dot blouse and black jeans while proclaiming, "I almost died today." A minor earthquake shook the Eastern Seaboard mere hours before, and Dee Dee, 29, fled the home she shares with her husband, Crocodiles frontman Brandon Welchez, plus a roommate and a black cat named Helmet. Now, having safely returned to her sparsely decorated living room (taxidermied duck, paperback copy of Carson McCullers' The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter), Dee Dee admits that she's wanted to be a pop star ever since she was a shy, New Kids on the Block-loving kid in the Bay Area. But there was an obstacle: "I felt uncomfortable just talking out loud," she says.

Hit Us, Baby, 30 Times: Celebrate Britney Spears' Birthday With Her 30 Best Songs

For the past decade, we've all been in Britney Spears' Twenties. It wasn't a mere chunk of 10 years as much as an era that hit every cultural speed bump. Today, Brit turns 30 and we honor all the chaotic joy and anguish she's brought to our collective lives with a rundown of her 30 best songs. 30. "Rock Me In" A playful Circus bonus track with one of Spears' most groovy choruses. "Rock Me In" has fewer sharp edges than the rest of her 2008 album, and would have suited the star's Austin Powers cameo perfectly. 29. "Unusual You" A woozy, melodic departure from the bustle of Circus. After enduring nearly three years of nonstop media scrutiny as her personal life crumbled, Spears sounds earnestly relieved to find someone who isn't breaking her heart ââ,¬" in song, at least. 28.

M.I.A. Confirms She's Working With Madonna and Nicki Minaj

In 2011, this is how news about big-name collaborations spreads: "summond to NYC by bitchesses > MADONNA and @NICKIMINAJ > cofffffiiiiiiieeeeeeeeee it iz a good day to get me tho trustttt bitches," M.I.A. tweeted over the weekend, seemingly confirming rumors that she and Minaj will appear on Madonna's in-the-works 12th studio album. According to reports that have yet to be acknowledged by the three artists' reps, M.I.A. and Minaj will join "Give Me All Your Love," a bouncy William Orbit production with a "Beautiful Stranger" vibe that arrived online prematurely earlier in November.

Guns N' Roses' 'Chinese Democracy' Tour By the Numbers

Guns N' Roses' first tour supporting Chinese Democracy technically started in 2001. The album didn't actually come out until 2008, however, and Axl Rose and his latest lineup — which of course features no other original members — didn't make their way to American arenas until October 2011. The bloated, three-hour show isn't without its flaws, but it's also thoroughly entertaining. There's plenty of pyro. Axl still has a slouchy guitarist with a limp cigarette dangling from his lips (DJ Ashba). Rose energetically sprints across the stage and nails all the high notes. But a full third of the set is comprised of songs by artists other than Guns N' Roses. And Rose does do a lot of mysterious vanishing.

Doctors Sadly Do Not Recommend Doing CPR to 'Stayin' Alive'

Evidently in the past, doctors have recommended performing CPR — the life-saving combination of chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation — to the tempo of the Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive," not because one performs best while picturing John Travolta swaggering down the streets of New York, but because its tempo is 103 beats per minute. But a new study published in the Emergency Medical Journal (via the BBC) says that is a dangerously bad idea. Medical professionals — we repeat, medical professionals — compared the effectiveness of administering CPR to "Stayin' Alive" to the benefits of doing it to the rhythm of Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart" and Mirwais' "Disco Science." The result?

Americans Think Marilyn Manson Is Creepier Than Octomom

A new poll conveniently timed to land around Halloween asked Americans to rank celebrities' Creepy Quotient, and as Reuters reports today, Marilyn Manson topped the list. That means Americans think Brian Warner is more unnerving than two people accused of murder (Casey Anthony and O.J. Simpson), The Hills' svengali Spencer Pratt, Octomom Nadya Suleman, tiger blood champion Charlie Sheen, disgraced ex-New York governor Eliot Spitzer, director Woody Allen (huh? still?), director Tim Burton (OK, get that one), and adulterer Jesse James.

Steven Tyler Continues to Lose War With Gravity

Steven Tyler has become one of the 234,000 people who visit emergency rooms as a result of falling in the bathroom. The 63-year-old Aerosmith frontman and human dream catcher was preparing for a show in Paraguay last night when he collapsed in his hotel restroom, smashing his face forcefully enough to knock out his two front teeth. Tyler's manager told TMZ the injuries were "minor" and the result of dehydration brought on by food poisoning, but they still necessitated a trip to the ER for stitches and dental surgery. Tyler will likely issue a more colorful statement in the coming days, so stay tuned to this story. When he twirled himself off a Sturgis, South Dakota stage in August 2009, the heavily scarfed frontman waited a week, then proclaimed, "I was doing the Tyler shuffle and then I zigged when I should have zagged ... AND I slipped, and as I live on the edge ...

Black Keys Not Yet Done Insulting Black Eyed Peas

One year ago, the Black Keys received their Video Music Award for Breakthrough Video ("Tighten Up") and learned MTV had mistakenly printed the Black Eyed Peas' name on it. Some would argue that's all you can expect from a network that literally removed the word "Music" from its name. Though MTV apologized, calling the incident a "clerical error,", the Keys were unimpressed, and in a new GQ interview, when singer-guitarist Dan Auerbach was asked to revisit the incident one more time, he threw a few additional jabs at MTV. But he mostly picked apart the Peas. His first reaction upon seeing the incorrect plaque: "I was just like, Wow. A channel that's never respected us or played us to fuck us like that?" he told GQ, laughing.
