WATCH: Smashing Pumpkins Debut New Song!

A Billy Corgan-fronted group called Spirits in the Sky performed a new Smashing Pumpkins song at a tribute concert for psych-rock pioneer Sky "Sunlight" Saxon in Los Angeles on Sunday. Corgan was joined onstage by new Smashing Pumpkins drummer Mike Byrne, a 19-year-old freshman at the Berklee College of Music, who replaced original drummer Jimmy Chamberlain when he left the band in March. Spirits in the Sky also included Electric Prune bassist Mark Tulin and Strawberry Alarm Clock keyboardist Mark Weitz. The song, given the working title "Freak," was written by Corgan in memory of Saxon, the lead singer of '60s garage rock band The Seeds, who died unexpectedly in June. "Sky Saxon came into our lives, and our lives have never been the same," Corgan said while introducing the track.

Gordon Gano & the Ryans is a collaboration between Gano and Brendan & Billy Ryan, former members of '90s indie rock band the Bogmen and current film composers (Fever Pitch, The Heartbreak Kid).

Terrific Twitter Trio of the Week

Lots of musicians tweet -- but all that Twitters is not gold. That's why you'll want to check out SPIN.com every Friday to see whose tweets we're reading this week -- then update your TweetDeck! (Obligatory Self-Promotion: ...while you're at it, be sure to follow @SPINmagazine!) This week's winners: Who: Paramore's Hayley Williams (@yelyahwilliams)Why You Should Follow: Paramore's music may be ripe with 20-something angst (and that's putting it lightly!), but their feisty frontwoman's tweets are adorably sunny and optimistic. The pixie-ish singer punctuates nearly everything she writes with an exclamation point (or two), and seems just as enthusiastic about waking up early and performing while sick as she is about hanging out with her boyfriend, eating McDonald's, and indulging in Disney Channel marathons.Best Tweet of the Week: "Vancouver!!! Exclusive: Wilco's Jeff Tweedy Rocks Out with His Sons!

You've heard of The Basement Tapes, but what about The Bedroom Jam?While SPIN's photographer was shooting Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy at his Chicago home for our August cover story, the rock dad took a break from posing to jam with some fellow musicians -- his two sons, Sam, 9, and Spencer, 13.If the video below is any indication, Tweedy's sons have inherited their father's knack for rock'n'roll. The impromptu concert took place in Spencer's bedroom, where the avid blogger has a comforter covered in electric guitars and a giant Who poster on his wall -- perfect decorations for an aspiring drummer whose pop-punk band, the Blisters, played at Lollapalooza in 2007.Says SPIN's creative director, Devin Pedzwater, who shot the video: "Spencer already seems like a little rock star."Check out the Tweedys' performance and be sure to pick up our August issue now!

Nas Announces Son's Birth to Get Back at Kelis?

Looks like Nas and Kelis' divorce battle just got even more bitter. After receiving news that his soon-to-be ex-wife had gone into labor yesterday morning, Nas rushed to the hospital to be at her side -- but was denied access to her room, his lawyer told MTV UK. Instead of getting mad, the rapper got even -- announcing the birth of their son, Knight, before Kelis could release an official announcement, according to Miss Info. See the video below! During a performance last night at Queensbridge -- the public housing complex in Queens, NY, where Nas grew up -- the rapper announced, "My son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young god, Knight! Y'all heard this first." There's no word whether "Knight" is the child's official name -- Kelis' camp has yet to make any statements about the birth. Nas and Kelis married in Atlanta in 2005.
