We don’t know much about Wertheimer, and what we do know we can’t say because we’ve been sworn to secrecy. Our friends at XLR8R reported that the mysterious electronic producer is a German sheet-metal worker, though his (?) SoundCloud claims Antarctica as home. London’s Lex Records backed the shadowy noisenik for his excellent Brandished EP earlier this year — pick up that bleak and beautiful burner here — and now Wertheimer returns to spill his oft-atmospheric digital wilding all over Future’s “Move That Dope.”
Pharrell’s touch is long gone from the SPIN cover artist’s single, and Pusha T’s verse is now scored by D-Styles-esque turntable darkness and percussive insanity. Casino, frankly, sounds deranged. The oddly urgent version will appear on a forthcoming set dubbed 4 Remixes. It’ll include Que’s “OG Bobby Johnson,” Ghostface Killah’s Danny Brown-featuring “Six Degrees,” and Mobb Deep’s “Just Step Prelude.” Also, it’s “designed for cars, clubs, DJs, radio, raves, drunken arguments, bombing trains and general urban summer mayhem.”
