Ultraista Bring ‘Gold Dayzz’ to ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’

If you’re a fan of Nigel Godrich’s Ultraísta and had a ticket to their New York concert that was canceled this week, that sucks. However, if you’re a fan of Nigel Godrich’s Ultraísta and had a ticket to see the band perform on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, you were in luck: Godrich and singer Laura Bettinson appeared on the show to perform their faithful rendition of “Gold Dayzz” off their self-titled debut. The group was without drummer Joey Waronker, Godrich’s Ultraísta/Atoms for Peace buddy and the reason the band’s trek was nixed. (Waronker’s wife gave birth earlier than expected.) However, they managed to find a substitute drummer — Here We Go Magic’s Peter Hale — for the Fallon appearance. It’s a bittersweet performance: It sounds great, but we’re bummed we missed our chance to catch Ultraísta live, up close and personal.
