The silver screen came to life Monday night in Los Angeles when Russell Brand, who plays a rock star in the new film Get Him to the Greek, took the stage at the Roxy for a set with his co-star Jonah Hill and Libertines rocker Carl Barat!

The concert — which prefaced the film’s premiere Tuesday at, aptly, the Greek Theatre — kicked off with a little humor: “In this film I play Aldous Snow, a fictional rock star,” Brand told the audience. “Yes, you heard it right, fictional! Created from my own opiate-addled past. Let’s hear it for opiates! But I was helped also by real rock stars, some of whom are here tonight.” [Via NME]

Playing as Infant Sorrow, Brand’s fictional group from the film, the Brit jokester and a backing band performed songs from the soundtrack, including “Bangers Beans And Mash” and “We Got The Clap,” with special appearances from Barat, Hill, and director Judd Apatow [via Guest of a Guest].

Brand and Co. also played “Just Say Yes,” a new track written by Jarvis Cocker (Barat and Cocker worked together on the soundtrack).
