Bernard Sumner throws one curveball with his new band, letting unknown Mancunian Jake Evans take a few turns on the mic. Those tracks -- particularly "These Changes" -- heavily echo Doves' forceful melancholy, while the others echo, well, New Order.

As far as spin-offs go, New Order's Bernard Sumner has a pretty solid track record. Electronic, his strong '90s collabo with the Smith's Johnny Marr, spawned the U.K. hit single "Get the Message." And remember: New Order itself rose out of the ashes of the legendary Joy Division. Now the singer-guitarist is at it again.

Britpop legends Blur may be in the throes of making a comeback -- currently playing intimate warm-up gigs in London and gearing up for their headlining slots in Hyde Park and at Glastonbury -- but bassist Alex James is clearly a multi-tasker.
