Sigur Ros’ Jonsi Takes Mum’s ‘When Girls Collide’ to Ibiza

Mum Jonsi Remix When Girls Collide Ibiza Anthem Smilewound

After a four-year break, Icelandic experimental glitch-ists Múm are back with Smilewound, a fresh set that finds them in familiar form and with a clutch assist from guest vocalist Kylie Monigue. Now the cult-adored Morr Music mainstays get a leg up from one of their countrymen — Sigur Rós star Jónsi, who SPIN interviewed this summer surrounding the release of the excellent Kveitur. Streaming over at Stereogum, you’ll find his “Ibiza Anthem Remix” of Smilewound highlight “When Girls Collide.” The new version is, duh, a highly danceable concoction blessed with glistening synths, four-four bass kicks, and ethereal vocals. Listen to that here, and review our Best Dance Tracks of 2013 (so far) while you listen. Also, check out Jónsi’s bandmate Úlfer, who streamed his debut LP White Mountain with us.
