Mates of State, MGMT Keep Lolla Rolling Late-Night

The opening day of Lollapalooza ends on an excellent note as electric-pop rocks Chicago's Double Door.

One of Lollapalooza's added bonuses: The entire city embraces the festival, and many of the Lolla bands play late-night, intimate sets, keeping the party long after Grant Park's 10 P.M. curfew.

On Sunday, July 20, throngs of music-hungry fans converged on Los Angeles' Gibson Ampitheatre for Download 2008 to have their craving satiated by sets from Tapes N' Tapes, Datarock, Ghostland Observatory, Gang of Four, and the Jesus and Mary Chain, among others.
