Gang of Four Cap Off Splendid Saturday at Download 2008
The post-punk legends topped off a remarkable day -- and night -- that featured performances from the Jesus and Mary Chain, Yeasayer, M83, and many more.

For about 10 hours last Saturday (July 19), more than 20 bands and a handful of stand-up comics performed for several thousand Bay Area music fans at Download 2008's San Francisco stopover. The result was a telling mash-up of what music fans are listening to as 2008 hits its mid-point.

The poppy duo Mates of State were among many highlights during Download's second-day stop in L.A., which also saw Datarock and the Duke Spirit, among others, deliver show-stopping performances.

Two guys were talking in the Gibson Amphitheatre men’s room around 4:00 P.M. during last night's (July 20) L.A. stop of the three-city Download Festival. One said to the other, “I’ve been to a lot of festivals, dude, and this is one weird festival!
