La Sera’s Katy Goodman Is ‘Losing to the Dark’ of Druggie Love

La Sera 'Losing to the Dark' Katy Goodman

Don’t let the above photo fool you: La Sera’s new song, “Losing to the Dark,” is anything but a happy-go-luck acoustic ode to the West Coast. No, former Vivian Girl Katy Goodman’s latest is a lament about being in love with an alcholic drug addict. “I won’t live like this forever, losing to the dark,” she sing to her beau, a songwriter who passes out in her car or mouths off to strangers at bars because they have “no heart.” The tragic romance has a lovely melody counterbalanced by rough guitars and lightning-quick solos. “Losing to the Dark” is the first single from La Sera’s third LP, Hour of the Dawn. The follow-up to 2012’s Sees the Light is due out May 13 via Hardly Art
