Hear Kings Destroy’s ‘Casse Tete,’ Sabbath-y Sludge From Members of Killing Time

Kings Destroy 'Casse Tete' A Time of Hunting

Brooklyn may not seem like the most obvious home for some serious Sabbath-style shreddage, but the dark art of heavy metal doesn’t give a damn about area codes. Woe upon he who fails to heed that spine-chilling call. The five men who make up Kings Destroy know better. Dueling guitarists Carl Porcaro and Chris Skowronski hail from New York hardcore heroes Killing Time. Lead howler Steve Murphy was a CBGB mainstay with his band Uppercut. Drummer Rob Sefcik and bassist Aaron Bumpus have earned their stripes locally as well. Their collective background is punk, but all signs point to their future being a gnashing combination of stoner rock and sludgy doom. Frankly put, they sound a bit like Queens of the Stone Age fronted by Ozzy Osbourne. And on May 14, Kings Destroy will release A Time of Hunting via War Crime Records. Below you can hear “Casse Tete,” a slowly grinding, six-minute exercise in excellent heaviness.
