Electric Daisy Carnival Company Launches Record Label

Insomniac Events Record Label Interscope

As the organizers of a number of dance music festivals including, of course, the now multinational Electric Daisy CarnivalInsomniac Events has made a name for itself as one of the world’s foremost promoters for neon-tinted EDM concerts. Now they’re expanding that brand into the realm of record production and distribution as Insomniac Records, a partnership with Interscope Geffen A&M.

In a statement released to the press, Pasquale Rotella, founder and CEO of Insomniac, said that, “Interscope and Insomniac formed Insomniac Records because we saw the need for a label that fosters the unique talents of dance music artists while also giving them a powerful platform to share their music with fans around the world.”

It seems a smart move on Interscope’s part to grab a couple of fistfuls of EDM’s coattails, because we’ve seen firsthand the kind of money that can be involved in that world. The label’s first signing is a DJ/producer named Arty, who’ll be releasing his debut  album later this year. You can hear a preview of a “Up All Night,” from that record, below.

Incidentally, you can take a peek behind the curtain of that world in a new documentary about Electric Daisy Carnival called Under The Electric Sky, which we caught at this year’s Sundance Festival. That film is finally set for a wider release on May 29 and you can check out the trailer above.
