See Hospital Ships Feast and Fight Like Vikings in NSFW ‘Servants’ Video

Hospital Ships 'Servants' Video NSFW Graveface

Hospital Ships specialize in a Built to Spill-style brand of frazzled, psychedelic Americana that’s only gotten more urgent as founder Jordan Geiger has added members. The now full-fledged band is releasing their new album Destruction in Yr Soul on June 18 via Graveface Records, and the Kansas crew have released a brand new video for the song “Servants” that cuts right to the bloody, beating heart of the thing. “My initial inspiration for the video,” said Geiger via statement, “was a comment Swans drummer Thor Harris made to me about the Viking concept of heaven being a place where feasting, fucking and fighting to the death took place every day until the ultimate dissolution of the soul into nothing.” So while the song stomps forth in an off-kilter trudge of rubbery bass and slinky guitar, he and guitarist Taylor Holenbeck don bizarre costumes and act out all three of those manly acts, except with a whole lot of paint involved. In the clip’s second half, we see ladies dancing through a forest of foam shapes — beware those NSFW female breast nipples — presumably welcoming these mighty warriors into Valhalla.
