This week, music's heavy-hitters reclaimed the spotlight: Green Day premiered songs from their first album in five years at a secret show in San Francisco, Eminem returned with his celeb-spoofing video for "We Made You," and No Doubt released their first new recording since 2003.

Bay Area legends Green Day played their new album at a surprise hometown show Tuesday night at San Francisco's 500-capacity club, the Independent. Billed as a "band practice," the group booked the gig because they were, as frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said onstage, "sick of playing these [new] songs to one another."

It was a big week for concerts: Bruce Springsteen and Lily Allen both knocked 'em dead at their U.S. tour openers, Chris Cornell rocked Soundgarden classics on his solo tour, and Morrissey wowed the crowd at New York City's Carnegie Hall.
