Ennio Morricone Wins First Best Original Score Oscar for ‘The Hateful Eight’

Italian composer Ennio Morricone won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for his work on Quentin Tarantino’s 2015 Western, The Hateful Eight. It’s Morricone’s seventh nomination and his first win, though he did receive an honorary lifetime achievement award in 2007. Speaking in Italian, the 87-year-0ld Morricone thanked all of his fellow nominees, with a special shout-out to famed Star Wars composer John Williams.
