It’s been a solid six years since Earthless have blessed this planet with their gnarled excellence. The San Diego trio — guitarist Isaiah Mitchell, bassist Mike Eginton, drummer Mario Rubalcaba — haven’t dropped a proper album since 2007’s Rhythms From a Cosmic Sky, but that’s about to change. On October 8, the band returns with From the Ages, an hour-long slab of sky-scraping, ground-shaking, air-thickening badassery produced by Phil Manley (Trans Am, the Fucking Champs) and coming at you via Tee Pee Records.
Though you’ve got to wait another week to own the thing, you can stream it now, in its entirety, as many times as you want right here. Divided up into four tracks, the new set covers some remarkable ground, from the elemental heat of “Violence of the Red Sea” to the astral swirl of “Uluru Rock.” Ride with Earthless long enough and you’ll know: space is the place.
