Carina Round’s Early Winters Can’t Outrun the Past in ‘Love Won’t Leave Me Alone’

Early Winters 'Love Won't Leave Me Alone' Stream Carina Round

Carina Round has never been easy to pin down. As a solo artist, the English singer/songwriter/shredder has garnered comparisons to everyone from Jeff Buckley to Björk to Robert Plant, but she’s also a frequent player in Maynard James Keenan’s Puscifer band and has moonlit as a touring member of Tears for Fears. All of that’s impressive, but on February 25, Round’s band Early Winters will shift the picture once more with their new album Vanishing Act.

Below you can hear a stand-out taste from that set, which trades in the sort of rough-but-pretty Americana we’ve come to seek from Lydia Loveless and Caitlin Rose. Accompanied by Toronto alt-country OG Justin Rutledge, Grammy-nominated producer/player Dan Burns, and session slayer Zac Rae (Lana Del Rey, Gotye), our heroine sounds perfectly at home lamenting a past she can’t outrun on “Love Won’t Leave Me Alone.” The song is simple, yet lush with well-placed harmonies and Round’s rich voice. Hear that below, and check out the Vanishing Act trailer above.
