May 20, 2013 Keyboardist Ray Manzarek, whose alternately gutsy and psychedelic shadings were nearly as distinctive a part of the Doors' sound as Jim Morrison's heated dramatics, died Monday (May 20) after a long struggle with bile duct cancer.
