Color War recently teased their upcoming debut album with an ornate music video for “SOS,” pairing the glossy, electronic brooder with a set of ceremonious, mystic-tinged visuals. Now, as the March 4 release date for It Could Only Be This Way comes ever closer, the Brooklyn-based duo — composed of Justin “Billy J” Lin and Lindsay Mound, two visual artists-turned-musicians — has pulled the curtain back on their first full-length effort. On the way via the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse label, the LP serves up a stark combination of elaborately arranged synths, bare-bones beats, and vaporous vocals, making for a 12-track set that lingers long after it fades into darkness.
