It was a scary Thursday night in New York City.

Nu-metal legends Slipknot and prog-rock heroes Coheed and Cambria rolled into Manhattan's Madison Square Garden with heavy riffs, some serious head-banging, and, of course, Slipknot's totally creepy masks.

The two bands thrashed, they bashed -- and we took pictures! Check them out below:

After four haunting sci-fi concept albums and a recent Kerrang Award for their music video "Feathers," progressive rockers Coheed and Cambria are joining forces with Guitar Hero for a signature, removable protective covering from Music Skins.

With shows in New York City and Los Angeles, the prog/emo juggernauts will perform the quartet of LPs comprising The Amory Wars series.

Soon to be starring in a new reality show, Man Bites Prog.

The emo demographic, not known for surprises, pulled a big one a few years back by going bonkers for this upstate New York band's unapologetic fusion of the aforementioned genre with Rush, Dream Theater, and early Queensrÿche. But on their fourth full-length, Coheed's emo leanings have faded.
