Watch Cian Ciaran’s Pissed-Off, Acid-Damaged ‘Sewn Up’ Video

Cian Ciaran

Cian Ciarán knows middle-finger psychedelic pop. He’s a co-founder, keyboardist, and all-around crucial member of long-running Welsh establishment trollers Super Furry Animals. He also quietly put out a debut solo album of ’60s-dappled orchestral pop last year, Outside In, and as leader of electronic-oriented mid-’00s project Acid Casuals he was responsible for the sublime waltz “Bowl Me Over.” Sophomore solo album They Are Nothing Without Us, due out on September 23 via Strangetown Records, foregrounds Ciarán’s righteous fury toward a whole range of targets. The video for first single “Sewn Up” sets the singer’s pissed-off broadsides and sugary fuzz-pop against washed-out kaleidoscope images of teenagers being teenagers. “The Man Don’t Give a Fuck,” SFA once sang, but the kids still have plenty of reason to grin and poke that jerk in the eye.
