Watch Califone’s Voyeuristic ‘Frosted Tips’ Video

califone, frosted tips, stitches

Back in July, Califone explored the seedier end of Tumblr with the interactive video for “Stitches,” the title track from their recently released seventh album. Now, the Tim Rutili-led outfit have shared another R-rated visual — this one for new single “Frosted Tips.” Directed by Jared Varava, the new clip peers into the goings-on of an apartment building. The camera (literally) offers a window into violence, death, loneliness, family life, parties, and, uh, some “creative” love-making.

Here’s what Varava had to say about working with the band: “I first heard Califone ages ago, back when I was in college and my brain was still spongy enough to process copious amounts of music. Over a decade after that, I cold called this guy Tim Rutili to ask if he’d be interested in scoring a short film I made. He agreed, proceeded to compose one of the most beautiful ditties I’ve ever heard, and I’ve been vastly in his debt ever since. This video is my modest way of contributing to that giant karma machine and impressing the pants off the starry-eyed, college-aged me.”
