Stream 7, the New Album from Beach House

Beach House‘s new album 7 is now available in full. Their seventh studio album, the release follows two 2015 albums, Thank Your Lucky Stars and Depression Cherry, as well as a compilation of B-Sides and Rarities and 10th anniversary reissue of their album Devotion on “Gold Cloud Burst” vinyl.

Announced this March, the album includes singles “Lemon Glow,” “Dive,” “Dark Spring,” and “Black Car” and was recorded in drummer James Barone’s home studio. “When we recorded the first group of songs, we thought it would just be a couple of them and then it ended up being five,” Alex Scally recently shared with Stereogum. “Something was sedimented doing that. It was this huge endeavor and I don’t think we could ever do something like that again, but we learned a lot from it.”

Allegedly an attempt to make a “more natural”-sounding album, the band shared that they didn’t want to limit themselves to writing in a way that would translate to a live setting. “In the past, we often limited our writing to parts that we could perform live,” the band shared in a press release. “On 7, we decided to follow whatever came naturally. As a result, there are some songs with no guitar, and some without keyboard. There are songs with layers and production that we could never recreate live, and that is exciting to us. Basically, we let our creative moods, instead of instrumentation, dictate the album’s feel.”

After an far-reaching variety of singles, the album can now be streamed in full. Check it out below.
