Street the Nowhere Says Goodbye

The final entry: Before heading home, STN frontman Dave Smallen and crew take their final bow with Push to Talk and Audrye Sessions.

We charged back to the Bay Area from Salt Lake City after our show on Friday night (June 29). It's the sort of drive that puts a worried face on anyone we mention it to, but we were scheduled to play an important unannounced show in San Francisco on Saturday night (June 30). We had to do it.

I'm typing this in our van, which is currently parked outside a Denver bowling alley. The other three are bowling a few games and having a couple drinks. Being the designated driver tonight, I figured my time might be better spent filling you in the events since my last post. Chicago wore us down.

Last time I left off, I was falling asleep on a couch in the basement of the Junior Varsity's house in Springfield, Ill. The windowless room allowed me to sleep until mid-afternoon where I found the house still strewn with band members, all stretched across the couches, air mattresses and sleeping bags seemingly laid across every open inch of carpeted floor.

About halfway through Thunderbirds are Now!'s set last night (June 18) in Kansas City, I skipped out of the bar and to make a phone call and wander around the empty streets. Stores were all closed except for a gas station a few blocks away where a conglomeration of cops stood between their cars, looking concerned.
