Alpha Dog hopes to be leader of the box office pack this weekend by assembling Hollywood's hottest young talent for its tale of true crime, including Justin Timberlake in a breakout role.

They say you can't get blood from a stone, but the team behind the new film, Blood Diamond would beg to differ. Set in Sierra Leone in the 1999, the film follows a mercenary (Leonardo DiCaprio), a fisherman (Djimon Hounsou), and a journalist (Jennifer Connelly) whose lives intersect in a path to recover a priceless diamond.

Though the name of the new Bond installment implies risky betting, the positive buzz surrounding the flick suggests you might want to double down and bring a date.

The media couldn't get enough of the story of French critics at Cannes giving this film a resounding "boo," but hey, any publicity is good publicity, right? Sure it is, which explains why you're going to see Sofia Coppola's take on the age-old story anyway. Let them eat popcorn!

John Cameron Mitchell's Shortbus, which is witty and exhilarating and a tad graphic in its approach to fucking, concerns an overlapping pack of contemporary New Yorkers. One among them is Jamie, who found sitcom stardom as a boy by playing a white kid adopted by a rich black family. Now he's an endearing moron in love with James, whom he met while researching a role as a street hustler.
