SXSW Tech Talk: How Ra Ra Riot Stays Connected
With SXSW having wrapped up, hundreds of bands gathered here in Austin get ready to head back on the road, dispersing across the country on tour. One of those bands is Ra Ra Riot, who headlined SXSW's Barsuk/Merge showcase Saturday night at the Parish. They've been in Austin for three days, seeing old friends and meeting tons of new people.

For years, there have been Austin shadow parties and festivals in opposition to SXSW's corporate juggernaut -- the best, known affectionately as Fuck by Fuck You, booked local (and international) punk bands to squall and scream and spill beer all over the backyard of a venue called the "Typewriter Museum" (the 2009 event was redubbed Type by Type Writer).

Kanye Invades SXSW for All-Star Set!
Kanye West invaded Austin, TX, Saturday for the last night of South by Southwest. But rather than perform a set of standard Kanye tunes, the hip-hop star played host to new artists on his label G.O.O.D. Music, including Consequence, GLC, and Big Sean. And he invited friends like Common, Erykah Badu, Fonzworth Bentley, and Kid Cudi to join the party onstage.
