Who? Youthful quartet These New Puritans reigning from the small resort town of Southend-on-Sea, located on the Southeast Coast of England. Fronted by Jack Barnett and featuring his twin brother George on drums, the band’s dark, arty, and simply unique sound is rounded out by Thomas Hein (bass, sampler) and Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (synth, sampler).
What? A 12-date tour, the outfit’s first-ever trek across North America, scheduled to begin June 5 in Washington, DC. From there, These New Puritans will flaunt tunes off their debut record Beat Pyramid (available now via Domino) to fans in cities like Boston, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
Should I go? Yes. These New Puritans — featured in Spin‘s April issue — have culled plenty of buzz from a steady regiment of shows across the pond, as well as with much-hyped gigs at SXSW. And with a debut record that turns heads with its boggling arrangements and novel sounds, it’s certainly a show worth catching.
