Simian Mobile Disco, ‘Temporary Pleasure’ (Witchita)

In case the 2007 song title “Tits & Acid” wasn’t warning enough, Simian Mobile Disco’s second-album moniker should drive home the electro duo’s nobly sleazy goal. Regardless of which indie celeb is on the mic or which recreational drug best suits the beat, each track hints at hedonism without hangovers. And so, luxuriant opener “Cream Dream” comes with a promise: As Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals coos nerdy rhymes over midtempo synth glitter, there’s a low-toned refrain assuring us that “failure is impossible.” Suddenly, binges seem miraculous.
