Who? Eddie Vedder, frontman of revered grunge and alt-rock mainstay Pearl Jam, and creative mind behind the acclaimed, psych-folk soundtrack to Into the Wild.

What? A 13-date solo tour landing in eight cities. Many of the stops — including Boston, New York, Toronto, Washington, DC, and Chicago — will be sporting back-to-back, two-night residencies. The jaunt, featuring singer-songwriter Liam Finn opening all dates, will kick off in Boston Aug. 1 and wrap in Chicago three weeks later, Aug. 22. Tickets (sure to go fast!) go on sale July 11 via ticketmaster.com, while a special pre-sale for fan club members begins July 7 at pearljam.com.

Should I go? By all means, yes! If Pearl Jam’s recent East Coast tour — video blogged and reviewed by Spin‘s Zack Newman — is any indication, Eddie Vedder puts forth an always spot-on, consistently thrilling performance. And with Into the Wild as part of his repertoire, Vedder’s solo dates are a must — no matter the ticket price!
