For the entirety of his career, John MacLean has been pre- tending to be a robot, both as a member of Six Finger Satellite and on his 2005 solo debut as the Juan MacLean, Less Than Human. So what's with all the newfound domestic concerns? Considering the wistful acid-house groove of "The Simple Life" and the staggering disco epic "Happy House," one would think a mushy human heart was providing the 4/4 kick within. Add the pipes of Nancy Whang on most tracks -- giving Future a boy-girl dynamic -- and there's a distinct suggestion that the Juan MacLean might just become the Human League after all.
