Jimmy Eat World Unveil North American Tour

Who? Phoenix, AZ’s Jimmy Eat World, led by singer/guitarist Jim Adkins, and featuring guitarist Tom Linton, bassist Rick Burch, and drummer Zach Lind. The quartet formed in the early ’90s, and have released six full-length records since, including standout set Bleed American.

What? A 14-date North American tour in support of the band’s most recent record, Chase This Light, as well as the just-released two-disc deluxe edition of Bleed American. The tour, rolling out with a hometown show June 18, will then cross the border and hit cities like Montreal and Toronto, drop down for gigs in Pontiac, MI and Minneapolis, and jump north once again before wrapping with jaunt down the West Coast, from Vancouver, BC to San Francisco.

Should I go? Yes. Jimmy Eat World’s Chase This Light flaunts the boys’ undying dedication to their pop-rock and emo upbringings — and it’s excellent, with catchy-as-the-common-cold choruses and Adkins’ high-pitched yelp. Plus the band’s back catalogue is full of classic sing-alongs, like the forward-driven, power-pop of “Sweetness” and “The Middle,” and beyond.
