Jaymay

'Autumn Fallin''

Mild-mannered New York girl unsheathes velvet daggers.

Spin Rating8 of 10

Jamie Seerman plays appealing folk pop that wouldn't be out of place at the corner espresso bar, but don't be fooled by her pleasantly laconic singing. The emotions she unveils in these engrossing tales of lust and failed relationships are as mellow as a punch in the face. On the ten-minute masterpiece "You'd Rather Run," Jaymay calmly sneers, "I never loved you enough to hate you," carving up an ex with the kind of surgical precision rarely seen since Bob Dylan's wicked youth. Bad boys, beware.
