Jack Johnson, ‘En Concert’ (Brushfire)

Mikael Wood // October 27, 2009

Think you know all there is to know about Jack Johnson? Eh, you’re probably right: Dude plays sweet little beach-folk ditties about mischievous monkeys and banana pancakes, and though he’s become insanely rich and famous doing it, he still seems about as chill as a superstar can be. This live CD/DVD set — recorded during last year’s world tour in support of Sleep Through the Static — doesn’t really reveal any hidden depths. But with a handsome Eddie Vedder duet (“Constellations”) and a scene in which Johnson surfs a river in Munich, who needs hidden depths anyway?
