Who? Welsh siren and SPIN cover belle Duffy, who exploded onto the international scene with the brass pipes and retro vibe of her debut album, Rockferry, which has sold over three million copies worldwide.
What? A 13-date outing featuring both headlining gigs and sets opening for Brit heavyweights Coldplay. Hot on the heels of numerous festival performances, Duffy will kick off the tour Oct. 9 in San Diego, hitting key spots out West like Los Angeles' Orpheum, before moving to Chicago and eventually the Northeast, including one-offs at New York's Webster Hall and Connecticut's MGM Grand. From there, Duffy will open a handful of dates for one of the world's biggest bands (and SPIN cover subjects), Coldplay.
Should I Go? Yes. If you missed repeated chances to catch Duffy outdoors, it should be interesting to see smaller clubs attempt to contain the singer's epic wail. And no matter where you stand on Coldplay's mope rock, there's no question their anthems are made for cell-phone-in-the-air arena sing-alongs. Still need convincing? Check out video of Duffy performing live in Los Angeles right here, and strutting through an acoustic rendition of hit tune "Mercy" exclusively for SPIN.com, here.
