Bishop Allen Announce Fall Touring Plans

Who?The charming NYC indie-pop group whose core members are Justin Rice (vocals/keyboards) and Christian Rudder (stringed instruments). After releasing sophomore effort The Broken String in 2007 — as well as filming an appearance in the forthcoming Michael Cera-starring film Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist — the band is currently in their Brooklyn studio recording their as-yet-untitled third longplayer.

What? An 18-date, month-long tour that will cover most of the U.S., starting on Nov. 1 in Washington, D.C.After gigs in North Carolina and Oklahoma, Bishop Allen will play a pair of three-night stands in Texas and California — including an appearance at the Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin, TX — on Nov. 6-8 and 10-12, respectively. From there, the group will play shows at various venues in the Midwest before hitting the East Coast yet again, concluding with a homecoming show in Brooklyn on Nov. 22.

Should I Go? Yes.Between the group’s two full-lengths, 12(!) EPs, and the new material that will be previewed on tour, Bishop Allen have a rich back catalog and reliable live reputation that ensures an unpredictable set list that will provide surprises for fans and newcomers alike. Plus, if they’re good enough for Michael Cera, our best guess is that they’ll be good enough for you.
