The All-American Rejects, 'When the World Comes Down' (Doghouse/DGC/Interscope)

Heartland heartthrobs pledge allegiance to big-tent success.

As 2005's double-platinum Move Along demonstrated, these Midwestern emo-rock dudes have never hidden their arena-size aspirations. But opening for Bon Jovi last year must've convinced model-handsome frontman Tyson Ritter and his bandmates that (even) bigger is better: Working with Good Charlotte producer Eric Valentine, the Rejects trick out their hook-jammed anthems with sweet strings, zippy disco beats, and the occasional bit of Gary Glitter bleacher stomp. In "Another Heart Calls," a windswept pairing with the Pierces, they even offer up a "Wanted Dead or Alive" for the Facebook set.
