  • Really? Who wrote this

Really? Who wrote this review? Genius? That might be a bit much. Look, she's a pop star. To pretend that she's anything more than that is ridiculous. Of course she's all style, that's what pop stars are for. No one listens to this kind of music for the substance. Is Lady Gaga's songwriting really "inventive"? This review honestly came off has pure fanboy nonsense. "Poker Face" utilizes an extended metaphor. And? "Just Dance" talks about someone who is drunk and disorientated at a dance club. Woo hoo. I honestly don't think Lady Gaga is an "inventive" songwriter, she's merely a competent songwriter. Furthermore she is merely what is hot right now. So does she favor style over substance? Absolutely. It's her job.
  • What is with his fixation

What is with his fixation with Radiohead?
  • Radiohead doesn't blow BUT

Radiohead doesn't blow BUT they sure as hell can do some wrong. Every f'ing band out there can do wrong. I mean has Thom Yorke ever come out and torn open his chest to reveal his mechanical parts showing the world he is in fact the perfect robot and declare he can do no wrong basically pulling a Kanye??! No. So wow shocking but this band is actually comprised of a few normal english dudes who have the talent to make some music. Gee golly, how great. The reality is every band is gonna have those who just simply do not like them and this might come to everyone's surprise but that's fine, it's ok. Accept that people have their own tastes and opinions about music and stfu. It just erks me when fans try to justify and prove that their band is the best ever. Personally, radiohead is alright, they have some good stuff but it's not all my cup of tea. Yet, i'm not gonna go and disrespect someone who deeply enjoys their music because everyone uses music to heal in some way or another. The writer of this article was wrong to say everyone secretly believes Radiohead blows, on this I agree but hey, there are those who think that and yea the world moves on and the band continues to make music.
  • STeven Tyler made Aerosmith

STeven Tyler made Aerosmith who they are. Period. I hope he's not on drugs again. I am just so glad I finally got to see them perform this year before all this happened. Best of luck
  • If ROME can step up and

If ROME can step up and exceed expectations by creating fresh new songs as well as play the old classic Sublime songs then let him prosper. His voice is as close to Nowell's as I've heard and if it keeps the Sublime spirit alive then go for it. No one can bring Bradley back, and his time was too short, so this is the closest thing. I'm excited for the Sublime band, who, as the previous comment does not agree with, are a major part of the creation of the original Sublime songs. Take Gaugh and Wilson out of the song writing process and you are left with the skeleton of a song, acoustic gold in its own right, but nothing compared with the backing from the band. I just hope the new front man doesn't go down the same path of decadence...I'm sure he is smarter than that. Long live Nowell, long live Sublime, long live a musical era that has defined the lives of so many people growing up all over the world. Let ROME be a part of it. If my band ever gets the chance to support Sublime when they get back on the road, I would be honoured to play alongside these men. Josh Ferg - The Flavour (Australia) www.myspace.com/wearetheflavour
  • Radiohead represent

Radiohead represent everything that punk rebelled against in the 70's. Post-rock is just another way of labeling prog-rock. Thom sings like he had his balls removed when he was 12 and his lyrics are so pretentious. I've got no problem with arrogance in rock and roll, but pretentiousness is unacceptable. We need a revolution soon before this band and all the other bands copying kill rock completely.
  • It seems like every article

It seems like every article I read about Nirvana in Spin completely degrades the band's impact on music. Nirvana was a great band. Very important. They deserve all the attention that they recieve. They influenced me more than any other band. Who cares if hair metal was already dead? Why are you bringing this up? Wasn't this 18 years ago? I guess next time I want to catch up on music news I'll just skip over Spin, because all this magazine seems to do is criticize legendary bands and keep talent-less "artists" on the cover.
  • This is probably one of the

This is probably one of the stupidest articles I've ever seen in SPIN or any other music mag - to assume, even suggest, what modern day bands Kurt Cobain would "champion" is an insult to all Nirvana fans and to his legacy. Cobain's musical interests were diverse - from Lead Belly to The Stooges, The Clash to The Breeders; whoever came up with the idea for this article, and the editors who approved it - I have three words for you: "You Are Idiots."
  • Um, I thought this article

Um, I thought this article was the best of '09. Wtf is Glasvegas doing on this list? Released in Sept. of '08. I demand a refund for my free internet reading.
  • Like Aaron said, did you

Like Aaron said, did you even listen to the album? Everything I've heard so far from this new album, and all of their albums so far have been overall better than the Killers albums to me, far better. And I happen to like his, as you aptly put it, "wind in a tunnel voice." Based on youtube videos of live performances of the songs on the new album, the new singles etc. I think this album will be their best and will be positively epic.
