+44 Covers 'I Am One'
When you pick up a copy of Spin's July issue on newsstands, a special surprise awaits: A free CD with ten covers of Smashing Pumpkins classics, presented by MySpace and Spin. While the street date of the July issue is almost a month away, you can start listening to these stellar tracks via each band's MySpace Page. Stay tuned to SPIN.com as we unveil each track from the collection throughout the next month.
Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker, who founded +44 during blink-182's 2005 hiatus, are currently on the Honda Civic Tour with Fall Out Boy, Cobra Starship, and more. "When I first got Gish, I was into punk rock and grunge. And then these guys came out -- they were kind of part of that movement, but they had such a different take on it," says Hoppus. "There was a psychedelic side to the Pumpkins. I wasn't into much psychedelic music before, and it felt so fresh to my ears."
Now Hear This: Listen to +44's cover of "I Am One" via the band's MySpace page.
