Luckily, WHY? frontman Yoni Wolf offers an explanation for his fourth album's plentiful corpse visions and masturbation scenes: "You gotta yell something out you'd never tell nobody." Once seen as hip-hop provocateurs, WHY? have transformed into moody, proggy jazz-folk tinkerers for the sequel to 2008's swaggering, riveting Alopecia. Wolf's stories remain cryptically compelling, but his manic rapping is all but gone; now he communicates in the nasal sigh of a lowlife resigned to living with his failures by confessing them.
