SPIN Internship Program

SPIN is seeking interns who have a strong background in writing and a serious interest in music, emerging scenes, tv/film, and politics for paid editorial intern positions. SPIN employs interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) programs. Interns work 20-40 hours per week, as scheduled with a staff editor. All editorial internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.

About the Intern Program:

Interns will be part of a dynamic, fast-paced newsroom, and will have opportunities to write and work on a long-term project during their shifts. They will also be responsible for transcribing interviews, researching stories, updating release and event schedules, and working with archival materials.

Application Materials:

Complete intern applications include a short cover letter, résumé, and 2 to 4 clips. Applicants without published clips are encouraged to submit music-related pieces (reviews or news stories) written on their own. There is no formal application form. These positions are open effective immediately, and we will be hiring for the current semester.
