Robyn and Royksopp Light Up New York’s Pier 97

Robyn and Röyksopp brought their hybrid electroni-pop and laser light show to Pier 97 last night, the musicians’ only New York City date in support of their recent EP, Do It Again. Röyksopp kicked the night off with a loud and powerful solo set, but the crowd hit its stride when Robyn skipped onto the stage as the sun set over Manhattan. Plowing through hits like “Call Your Girlfriend,” “Stars 4ever,” and of course the generationally iconic “Dancing on My Own,” the pint-sized Swedish singer offered slightly new arrangements of almost all of her solo material which left some fans confused by the switch-up. Most, however, were content to dance the night away as the musicians segued into their collaborative set to end the night, delivering songs like “Monument,” “The Girl and the Robot” (which received a huge amount of crowd support), and “Sayit.” Röyksopp and Robyn ended the night with a bang on the singer’s solo cut, “None of Dem,” and SPIN was there to capture every hit-filled moment.
