Converse celebrated the opening of its first Manhattan-based retail store on Thursday (Dec. 9) with a special performance from Brooklyn duo Matt and Kim.Located in SoHo, the store contains the largest selection of Converse footwear in the world and includes a product customization area, where patrons can add a personal touch to their kicks.
The evening opened with DJ sets by Q-Tip and Albert Hammond Jr. of the Strokes, and closed with an upbeat performance from Matt and Kim.Notable guests included Lupe Fiasco, Theophilus London, basketball legend Dr. J, and designer John Varvatos who designed an exclusive line of lace-free All Stars for the band.Party-goers received gift bags with swag from the new line of clothing and accessories, which is also available at the first-ever Converse store in Boston.
