Connect Sessions — In the Studio With Com Truise and CandyStations

Connect Sessions, Microsoft, Com Truise

What does the first moment of collaboration between a musician and a visual artist look like? In late November, SPIN tagged along to document the initial creative convergence of electronic musician Com Truise (nee Seth Haley) and multidisciplinary artist CandyStations (nee Deborah Johnson) for the Microsoft Connect Sessions. Com Truise is renowned for his dynamically psychedelic, computer-based live shows, while CandyStations is at the forefront of designing organic, reactive visual complements to musical performances. they are both gear-heads with deep software acumen, whose potential partnership depends not only on them getting along but on their respective machines to find a common language. It seemed like they got each other at “H3110.”
