and pearl jam? oh yeah, they're relevant, EIGHTEEN FUCKING YEARS AGO!!!! this list is fucking pathetic.
the cage and brother ali albums are pretty good but you left out the best hip hop records of 2009- 'no more heroes' from solillaquists of sound, 'crownsdown' by themselves and 'more heart than brains' from bike for three. and that's not counting all the amazing mixtapes, like 'sick of wasting...' and 'the freehoudini' and 'nuclear winter.'
and where the fuck is fever ray?
and as far as best debut album, nothing tops 'where we are' by my toys like me.

Big Whiskey & The GrooGrux King by DMB is the best album of the year so fare

That Brand New album is tinny screamo...it's not fresh fury, it's irritating as hell.

Oh for christ sakes some of you people are idiots!! Pearl Jam is just as relevant today as 18 years ago. Great music is great music and they have more talent than the majority of any new band today not saying that the new bands aren't good but Pearl Jam opened doors for a different kind of music and they are still fucking awesome so stop your pissing and moaning and trashing other great bands b/c a band you like isn't on a list. Doesn't mean they aren't good just means the rep for this mag has his own taste and opinions and he must know what he's doing or he wouldn't be writing for one of the top music mags.

Bleh, if only they had put Converge or BTBAM on there, it would have made up for all the shitty things.
Axe To Fall and The Great Misdirect are better than any other album released this year.
