Cat Power, MMJ Top 'I'm Not There' Concert Bill; Dinosaur Jr. Tour
Bob Dylan sure can round 'em up. First scores of music's upper echelon joined to cover the seminal songsmith's tunes for the soundtrack to Todd Haynes' Dylan-themed film, I'm Not There, and now, a few of those contributors, including Cat Power, My Morning Jacket, and Yo La Tengo, plus the Roots and J Mascis, will celebrate the film with a performance Nov. 7 at New York's Beacon Theatre. Gomez's Ian Ball & Olly Peacock, Sonic Youth's Lee Ranaldo and his band, the Million Dollar Bashers -- showcasing drummer Steve Shelley, seminal Television axeman Tom Verlaine, and Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, among others -- plus Calexico and Mark Lanegan will also join for the performance.
Dinosaur Jr. Map Fall/Winter Outing
Sure, axe deity J Mascis may be fine tuning his best Dylan shtick for the Big Apple's stringent audiences, but that's not stopping his, you know, other project, Dinosaur Jr., from touring the U.S. this fall and winter in continual support of Beyond, the trio's latest LP. Kicking off in Millvale, PA Nov. 20, the 21-date outing will hit eastern seaboard cities like Boston and Washington, D.C. before heading south, dropping into Atlanta, New Orleans, and Orlando, among others. The band's jaunt will grind to halt with a string of gigs throughout the Midwest, before finally a show in Aspen, CO Dec. 15.
