Apples in Stereo Hit Big Apple
The Apples in Stereo, with their energetic tourmates Casper and the Cookies and Brooklyn locals caUSE co-MOTION!, put on an outer-orbit dance spectacular at the Bowery Ballroom to celebrate last week's release of their latest, New Magnetic Wonder. Their live show was packed with new woozy, psychedelic jams, space suits, and glowing stars complimenting their signature packages of perfectly crafted pop.
After whipping showgoers into a dance frenzy and giggling at requests for "Steven's Song" (an homage to Steven Colbert), singer Robert Schneider spent nearly half an hour greeting fans. Bassist Eric Allen took a moment to speak with SPIN.com, too, describing his band's sound as flexible. "Power-pop is great, because it's as serious as you want it to be," he said. Last night, the Apples in Stereo made it their serious business to make sure everyone had fun. LAVINIA WRIGHT / PHOTOS BY TERA BARNUM
