Beastie Boys, Debbie Harry Rock for Animal Rescue
NEW YORK, NY: Artists flocked to the chic Hiro Ballroom to support the rescue of homeless animals.

Beastie Boys led the list of artists performing for charity at New York's Hiro Ballroom Wednesday (Oct. 4). Debbie Harry, members of Blue Oyster Cult, Nellie McKay, and others also took the stage at the event, which was hosted by Rational Animal and the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). "Gimme Shelter: Rock & Rescue NYC" benefited local rescue groups and NYC's homeless animals in an effort to have animal shelters become "no-kill" by 2010. PHOTOS BY MICHAEL WEINTROB
