Little Boots Promises Things Will Be ‘Better In the Morning’ on Sparkling New Single

Little Boots has always been one of those artists who seems primed for a massive U.S. splash (she’s quite the to-do in her native England), but she’s never quite taken off here the way you’d think she would, with tightly crafted electro-pop songs in line with (but never cribbing from) the catalogues of Robyn or Charli XCX. Breathy but emotionally hefty, hers is a lane not often taken, and certainly not as confidently as she makes it seem.

Like all smart singers in 2015, Boots has now enlisted Ariel Rechtshaid for “Better In the Morning,” the sunny, spectacularly hooky new single from her just-announced third album, Working Girl (due July 10 via Dim Mak Records). According to a press release about the album:

A conceptually driven album, “Working Girl” contemplates our hyper-active, paranoid and posturing modern world, punctuated with massive dancefloor beats. The title is also a wry nod to the 1989 film of the same name (see the tongue-in-cheek visual nods to early-’90s yuppie couture that comprise the album’s aesthetic). “The album’s inspired by my journey from the beginning to the present, where I am essentially CEO of my own business and run an independent label,” Hesketh explains. “It’s also fun and empowering to turn the traditional associations of ‘working girl’ on their head.”

Stream “Better In the Morning” below (good luck getting it out of your head), and look for Working Girl in just two short months.
