Zach Braff’s New Music Video!

You might know Cary Brothers from the song he contributed to the Grammy-winning soundtrack for Garden State, the album Zach Braff handpicked for that indie flick. Braff has once again enlisted the unsigned singer/songwriter for airy, folksy gem, “Ride” — the prettily strummed guitar ballad that jangles like wind chimes in a soft breeze — to be featured on the soundtrack to The Last Kiss, Braff’s newest indie project.

The clip for “Ride” juxtaposes scenes from the movie — with all its stars, including blockbusting actors (Casey Affleck, Blythe Danner), small-screen darlings (Eric Christian Olsen, Rachel Bilson), and even former-Real World-er (Jacinda Barrett) — against Brothers as he traipses among various doublewides under a huge (and hot) Western sky. “Although we all nearly went crazy shooting in 112-degree heat in the middle of the desert, we had a blast, and I couldn’t be happier with the way the video turned out,” Brothers told SPIN.com. “In retrospect, the choice of a black button down shirt and black guitar in the blistering sun might not have been my wisest move of the day, but then again, I did get my Tennessee boy Johnny Cash homage in, so there was purpose to the pain.”

On Zach Braff, Brothers said the actor was a pleasure to work with. “[Braff] was so prepared, moved fast, and got some great work done in tough conditions, all while treating everyone on the video crew like family. The man’s just ridiculously talented and a really good guy. It’s my first video, and he set a high bar for any more of these I do.”
