Yelawolf is slowly making his way back in from the crossover rap wilderness, as noted upon the arrival of “Box Chevy Part 4,” an early offering from his out-now Trunk Muzik Returns mixtape. The Paul Wall-featuring “Hustle” is another highlight from that set, which finds the slept-on featured guest bragging about his titular pursuit with much aplomb. For instance, the line: “Riding dirty, ain’t no hobo / It’s just me, strapped up like a GoPro.” Meanwhile, in the Complex clip above, highly customized cars and highly customized cornrows abound.
Then in comes Yela, setting himself up with a melodic fast-rap hook that plays off of Wall’s slow slur. Wolf then flips the script by rhyming about a time when he “fell for another man’s hustle.” He tells a tale of greed and opportunism that could apply equally to industry dealings or illegal activities.
Alabama’s favorite son recently popped up on “Go Hard,” a fresh track from Three 6 Mafia spinoff group Da Mafia 6ix. On Halloweeen, October 31, he and that project’s mastermind, DJ Paul plan to release Black Fall, a mixtape whose beats are assembled from the hard rock of Yela’s youth.
